Resolution 16, submitted by the IAFF Executive Board, offered the IAFF Convention delegates another opportunity to bring further transparency to our union. After some healthy and respectful debate, a 1984 resolution allowing for DVP severance pay only upon Convention action was further codified and will be made part of the IAFF Constitution and By-Laws.

The Resolution, “Principal Officer and District Vice President Benefit Structure,” was initially taken up on day three and was referred back to the Constitution and By-Laws Committee for further study.

Committee Chair and 4th District Vice President Andrew Pantelis reported the recommendation to the delegates and Resolution 16, as amended during debate, was adopted. DVP severance pay is not provided for in the constitution and any changes can only be made by future convention action.
